The broadcast headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Irib) in Tehran was attacked by Israel on Monday in full live broadcast.
In images disseminated in social networks you can see the moment in which the channel presenter interrupts her speech after hearing a strong explosion.
Iranian authorities reported that several chain employees had been injured in the attack. Images transmitted from Tehran show one of the Irib in flames.
Minutes after the attack, the chain resumed its transmissions.
Peyman Jebeli, director of the broadcaster, appeared on state television showing a blood stained newspaper. He said that state television and its employees will endure until the end.
Before the attack, the Israeli army had issued an urgent evacuation order for the third district of Tehran, in the northeast of the city, in which the headquarters of the public chain is found and in which more than 300,000 people live.
“The Iranian propaganda and incitement megaphone is about to disappear. The evacuation of nearby residents has begun,” said Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz.
After the attack, the Israel Defense Forces (FDI) said in a statement that the Air Force attacked a communications center used for military purposes by the Iranian armed forces.
They added that the building was used under the appearance of a civil activity and that the attack directly harmed the military capacity of the Iranian army.
