Jey use began to regularly use the Spear in WWE during its rivalry of 2023 with Roman Reigns. In a recent video, the former Wwe Stevie Richards explained why the movement is no longer as special as it used to be.

In 1997, Bill Goldberg popularized the Spear on WCW. Several fighters have adopted the movement since then, including The Big Show, Bobby Lashley, Bron Breakker, Charlotte Flair, Edge and Reigns .. Rhyno's final movement, El Gore, is also a variation of the Spear. In fact, Goldberg himself has expressed in the past his disenchantment that the Spear use.

In The Stevie Richards ShowRichards told the host James Romero who understands the logic of the story behind that Jey use the movement of his cousin. However, he believes that Spear has become as used as DDT and Superkick:

“Now you have Jey use by speaking in the line of working with someone inside The Bloodline, but still,” Richards said. “Its end is a splash, a superkick. These are things of a smaller guy. I can understand the spear perhaps by despair or as a double blow to create distance, move away the opponent, recover your breath. But, at the same time, you are right, yes, the DDT, the Spear and the Superkick are the three. Those are the three that really need to reduce and become special again.” (12:19 – 12:55)

Richards also questioned whether the fighters should continue to make a high -risk movement that Austin Theory eliminated his repertoire in WWE.

Stevie Richards analiza la Spear de Bill Goldberg en WWE

On July 28, 2003, Bill Goldberg defeated Stevie Richards in a 72 -second fight at WWE RAW. The end saw the WCW icon execute a Spear and a Jackhammer over its opponent before achieving a rapid victory on behalf of three.

Reflecting on your experience when you receive a Goldberg Spear, Richards commented with humor that she preferred to receive Edge's movement:

“The Goldberg Spear does not look fantastic. It is a real Spear (laughs). I am a fighter. I prefer Edge because it simply lets you make the impact and receive the coup. And Goldberg is next to your side because he planted his head directly on the canvas. ” (13:21 – 13:43)

In an earlier episode, Richards expressed his surprise that Goldberg never broke his neck when making a spear.
