Jim Ross played a key role in the formation of the WWE cast in the late 90s and early 2000s. In a recent episode of his podcast, the legendary commentator recalled what he thought about Trish Stratus when he met her for the first time.
Stratus was a fitness model before Ross hired her to work at the WWE in 1999. The fighter, now 48, won the women's championship seven times and became one of the largest stars of the company. In 2013, his achievements were recognized with his induction to the WWE Hall of Fame.
Talking to presenter Conrad Thompson in Grilling JRRoss compared Stratus's appearance with the actress of BaywatchPamela Anderson:
<
“When he entered my office, he almost left me breath. It was one of the most beautiful women I had seen. I had a style similar to Pamela Anderson at that time. I thought: 'Demons, if we cannot make this girl a star, we must get out of wrestling', and her work ethics was exemplary.” (37:48 – 38:13)
In 2023, Stratus returned to the WWE ring after deciding to retire in 2019. In his most recent fight, he lost to Becky Lynch in a steel fighting in Payback 2023.
Jim Ross who should hire Trish Stratus today
The member of the WWE Hall of Fame, Lita, was one of Trish Stratus' main rivals during the first days of her wrestling career. The two women are close friends and, occasionally, they appear together in conventions.
Jim Ross believes that promoters would do well to hire the legendary WWE stars together for autograph signatures:
“She (Trish Stratus) has managed to have a very profitable career, and she and Lita stand out in those autograph signatures. Any promoter who wants to attract crowds must hire both. I adore them. They are very good. They were very important in my time in (WWE).” (38:18 – 38:40)
On December 6, Lita and Stratus met in GalaxyCon In Columbus, Ohio. They organized an event called Team Bestie: The Main Event And they remembered their iconic combat that occurred exactly 20 years ago in a RAW episode in 2004.
