John Cena's heel turn at WWE Elimination Chamber surprised long -term fans, and nobody knows how to process it better than Kurt Angle.
After 20 years being the main Babyface of WWE and the final hero for children around the world, Dinner changed the script in February 2025. In the RAW episode of March 17, he explained the shocking movement by accusing the WWE universe of what he described as years of emotional abuse. “I have been in a toxic and dysfunctional relationship with fans,” Declared Cena. “Even with children.”
WWE's legend did not hold, accusing his young fan base of turning his back and feeding years of hate online, despite his loyalty towards them. That segment divided the Internet, but for Kurt Angle, it was a family scene with a turn.
Angle, who fought against dinner at some of his most iconic fighting between 2002 and 2006, gave his opinion during an exclusive talk with Bill Apter. The member of the Hall of Fame did not hold on to reflect on Cena turning his back on his younger followers.
“It was surprising that they did it because John has been Babyface for so long and the children absolutely love him,” said Angle. “I know he broke many children's hearts. It was a bit funny. It's not funny because I know the children were disconsolate, but it is a bit hilarious that these poor little ones were crying for John Cena and we all know that the business is a work.”

Even so, Kurt Angle made it clear that he does not believe that Cena remains as a villain for as many months as people span. With dinner scheduled to retire at the end of 2025, the Olympic gold medalist believes that there is an arc of redemption waiting.
“Be sure that John will eventually be Babyface. He will not retire as Heel,” said Angle, discarding the idea that the final act of dinner is as a villain.
With only months before dinner retirement, the door is completely open for a last character change, and according to Angle's prediction, it could be the story of redemption that fans never saw coming.
