John Cena was presented as one of WWE's main full -time Babyfaces between mid -2000 and mid -2010. In a recent interview, the former Speaker of the headquarters based in Stamford, PJ Black, recalled how The Nexus never became the same after Summerslam 2010.

The event ended with the stellar team of John Cena defeating the Villano de Rookie group in a seven -sized elimination fight against seven. The WWE team members, Chris Jericho and Edge, wanted The Nexus to win. However, it is said that Cena convinced the then president of the headquarters in Stamford, Vince McMahon, to change the end.

Black, previously known as Justin Gabriel, was a member of The Nexus. During an appearance in the podcast Two Man Power Trip of Wrestlingrecalls the disappointing result of combat.

“Looking back, in retrospect, it was obviously the wrong decision,” Black said. “He killed all the impulse. John Cena was the king of the world. I didn't need that victory at all. Much later, I also heard that Jericho and Edge went to talk to Vince, and he changed his idea at that time, but then dinner went to talk to him again and (the end) changed again, so who really knows what happened there.” (45:49 – 46:10)

Black was accompanied in The Nexus by Darren Young, David Otunga, Heath Slater, Michael Taver, Skip Sheffield (also known as Ryback) and Wade Barrett.

PJ Black reaction to John Cena's victory

The WWE team was composed of John Cena, Bret Hart, Chris Jericho, Daniel Bryan, Edge, John Morrison and R-Truth.

Given stellar power in the opposite team, PJ Black did not think that his inexperienced faction was entitled to complain about the end of the scene:

“We didn't know if we thought something was fine, maybe we should talk, or go to do this or propose something, whatever we had not to do any of those things, so we didn't think it would make a difference if we were going to talk to them, so we simply sat down and did what they told us we did.” (46:25 – 46:42)

The 36 -minute fight ended with dinner by counting Black before making Barrett surrender with the STF. More than a decade later, many fans see the result as one of the worst in the history of Summerslam.
