The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, regretted this Monday to have received “very late” the information on the failure in the mother's cancer screening that affects at least two thousand women and that has unleashed a political storm in the middle the work”.

Moreno has said that it is now time to solve the problem and that responsibilities will then be cleaned, without referring directly to the Minister of Health, Rocío Hernández, very questioned by the opposition and medical unions for how to manage this scandal: “So we are, as I say, in that phase: first, phase of solving the problem and solving the problem is calling women, doing the relevant tests. Audit, get (knowing) where the problem is, that is, knowing exactly what the origin of the problem has been so that it does not happen again and therefore we correct those errors and also see who has been responsible for that problem for when its time comes: purify the necessary responsibilities.

According to union sources, the SAS already had proof of delays in the program since January 2024, which states that the information existed internally before the media exposure, although the institutional reaction (and specifically that of Moreno) has only occurred after jumping the scandal to the media.

Moreno's statements arrive the same day that the Superior Prosecutor's Office of Andalusia has opened investigation proceedings in this case. Also on Monday the Ministry of Health has asked for letter to the Board information about the breeding in the screening and has demanded “maximum transparency.”

In addition, the Association of Women with Breast Cancer (AMAMA) is finalizing a collective claim against the Moreno Executive for “serious negligence” in the early detection protocol “which can have criminal consequences”.
