Kevin Owens has just cemented his place in the history of WWE, but not the way he would have wanted.
After losing another fight for the WWE championship at Royal Rumble 2025, Owens officially joined one of the most shameful clubs in the history of the company.
Facing Cody Rhodes in a Ladder Match, Owens had all the opportunities to finally claim the WWE undisputed championship. Rhodes at the end of the fight was a low coup, but it was not enough. Rhodes went around the situation, applied an Alabama Slam to Owens from the commentators' table through a ladder and went up to recover the title, keeping his reign alive.
With this last failure, Wwe Stats confirmed that Owens now adds to the rare and humiliating list of fighters who have competed for the WWE 10 championship or more times without ever winning it. The only other names in this unfortunate group? Don Muraco and Dolph Ziggler.
Despite being a former universal champion, Owens has never been able to get the WWE championship. He has had multiple opportunities, including in Bash in Berlin and Saturday Night's Main Event, but again and again, it falls short.
