
The fifth edition of MADCUP, The largest Federated Base Football International Tournament, concluded yesterday with a resounding success after five days of intense competition, reaffirming its role as one of the great sports impulse engines, tourist, cultural and economic for the Community of Madrid.
This edition was consolidated as an essential platform for the discovery of young talents and the strengthening of the international projection of Madcup, already considered as the reference tournament in its category.
More than 840 teams from 41 countries, including Mexico, the United States, Honduras, Oman, Lebanon, Kuwait, Japan, Canada, United Kingdom, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia or South Korea, They participated in this edition. More than 15,000 soccer players of male, female and inclusive teams played a total of 2,400 games in more than 30 venues distributed by municipalities such as Alcalá de Henares, Torrejón de Ardoz, Leganés, Pozuelo de Alarcón, Alcobendas, San Fernando de Henares, Las Rozas, Madrid and Paracuellos del Jarama.
The Clausura, held at the Alcalá de Henares Sports Center, brought together thousands of relatives and fans for trophy delivery to the most prominent teams and players. The act was attended by numerous personalities from the sports and institutional field, such as Enrique Cerezo, president of Atlético de Madrid; Judith Piquet, mayor of Alcalá; Paco Díez, president of the RFFM; Ana Rodríguez, president of the RFFM Women's Soccer Committee; and other institutional representatives and collaborating companies such as Bristol Myers Squibb, Kromex, Hife Madrid, Neinver, Telemadrid, Plenitas or Mae Sport & Education.
