The member of the WWE JBL Hall of Fame states that an employee was fired after a terrifying incident with Undertaker
John Bradshaw Layfield, also known as JBL, had a successful career as an individual star in SmackDown when he won the WWE championship. In the following years, the veteran won more titles before losing his intercontinental championship against Rey Mysterio in Wrestlemania 25 and leaving the company.
During his time at the company based in Stamford, Layfield was a good friend of The Undertaker. In statements a Something to WrestleJBL said the member of the team responsible for pyrotechnics was immediately fired from the WWE after The Undertaker suffered first and second grade burns during his entrance.
“I could have killed it. It's crazy how stupid this was. You can't make that mistake. You can't put active pyrotechnics in the only place where anyone, much less the company's star, will be. I mean, this guy was a complete idiot. So it happened. You don't say that, when 'Taker' returned, that guy had already been fired and never again saw him again.” (1:26:52 – 1:27:15)
The incident occurred in 2010 when The Undertaker was making its entrance to the Elimination Chamber event with the World Heavyweight Championship. Fortunately, the veteran could continue the fight after getting wet with water while waiting in the cabin.
