A member of the WWE Hall of Fame appeared on SmackDown and declared himself a participant of the Royal Rumble. However, he was immediately attacked after doing so.
As one of WWE's most outstanding figures, Rey Mysterio has always been synonymous with San Diego, with his area code, 619, showing his loyalty to his home. He opened the show and shared how great it was to be back at home. He added that he had requested to be here tonight.
Rey Mysterio revealed that he was going to be part of the Royal Rumble 2025. Once again he would try to do the impossible to try to win it. He shared how he won the rumble from position #2 in 2006, surpassing everyone, before winning the World Heavyweight Championship in Wrestlemania 22.
He talked about how Drew McIntyre, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, John Cena and Roman Reigns were already part of the rumble this year, and pointed out that it was going to be difficult. Before I could say something else, it was interrupted by Kevin Owens.
The star said she regretted to leave and interrupt Rey Mysterio, but heard him talk about winning the rumble and said he respected him. However, even after everything Owens had achieved in his career, he wanted an individual fight with Rey Mysterio. So I expected Mysterio to win the rumble and then choose it as the champion he would challenge in Wrestlemania.
Mysterio responded to Owens saying that he was ready to face him, but that he was not the champion, Cody Rhodes was. Owens said Rhodes had washed the brain to Mysterio and everyone else. He added that he was the real champion. He tried to attack Mysterio, but was shot down by the member of the WWE Hall of Fame. Then he had to flee from him.
