A source has revealed that several names could leave AEW in the coming weeks. This follows a handful of talents who recently did not renew with the company and became free agents.
The last report indicated that Leyla Hirsch became a free agent after his contract with the promotion expired this week. He previously had sporadic appearances in AEW, since it was mostly scheduled with Roh and even challenged the women's television championship of that brand.
During a recent live broadcast of Wrestling Observer (F4W)Bryan Alvarez discussed the recent departures of the company and said they would not be the last in next month. He revealed that he had heard that the contracts of some more stars were about to overcome, and considering that the promotion supposedly has too much talented hired, more outings could come.
“I think this will not be the last time you listen to this story in the month of March. I have heard that there could be some next outings … either people being released, or that the contracts of some come to an end and are not renewed. I think that the fact is that they have too many people under contract … I can surely say that she (Leyla Hirsch) will not be the last one in the next 30 days.”
What AEW stars have left the company since 2025 began?
Although only a few departures from the promotion led by Tony Khan have occurred since the beginning of the year, it seems to be an elevated number, considering that only two months of the year have passed.
Almost three weeks ago, names like Malakai Black, Miro and Ricky Starks were removed from the AEW Roster page on their website. This was an indication that they were no longer with the company. Whether they were granted their release or that their contracts had already concluded.
There have been no more reports about who have contracts that expire at the beginning of March, but could continue the changes within the company in the future.
Since several free agents are supposedly in the radar of the promotion, this could be a situation of giving and taking while seeking to restructure their roster.
