The Colombian pilot David Alonso was very close to achieving his second podium of the season in Moto2, but a fall left him out of competition at the Austria Grand Prix, played this Sunday in Spielberg.
The appointment ran in the Red Bull Ring circuit, where Alonso had had an outstanding performance in the classification. With a record of 01: 33.006, the fifth position was secured on the starting grill, which allowed him to dream of a good result in the competition.
During the development of the test, Alonso showed solidity and came to be third, behind the Brazilian Diogo Moreira – anventive winner – and the Spanish Daniel Holgado. However, when five laps were missing for the end, an error cost him expensive and left it without options.
The Colombian, who had even marked the fastest return of the race, took a curve with speeding, lost control, went to the gravel and ended on the ground. Fortunately, he was able to get up immediately and the incident did not go to adults.
Without points in Austria, Alonso remains in box 17 of the Moto2 pilot championship, with 43 units. The classification is leading the ESP
Añol Manuel González with 188 points, followed by Arón Canet (169) and Diogo Moreira (153), who complete the provisional podium.
The next challenge for the young Colombian pilot will be the Hungary Grand Prix, which will be played on August 24. There he will look for revenge and will have another eight more runs ahead to continue climbing positions in the season.
