The Israeli prime minister, Benjamín Netanyahu, insisted this Sunday that “there will be a Palestinian State” after the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia recognized him, and warned that on his return from the UN General Assembly that will be held next week in the United States will announce an “response” to that decision.
In a video released by his office on social networks, Netanyahu launches a message to the countries that are recognizing the state of Palestine by the Israeli offensive in Gaza: “That will not happen. A Palestinian State will not be established west of the Jordan River.”
“For years, I prevented the creation of this terrorist state from enormous internal and external pressure. We did it with determination and we did it with political wisdom. Not only that, we have doubled the Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria, and we will continue on that path,” he adds in his publication in X.
Netanyahu will participate in the UN Assembly in New York next Friday, a forum in which several countries – among them France – plan to recognize the state of Palestine before the Israeli offensive in Gaza that has charged more than 65,000 lives. On later Monday he will meet with the president of the United States, Donald Trump.
The United Kingdom, Canada and Australia have advanced to said conference and have recognized the Palestinian State this Sunday.
“I have a clear message for the leaders who recognize a Palestinian state after the terrible massacre of October 7: they are giving a great boost to terrorism,” Netanyahu said in their message, and added that “there will not be a Palestinian state.”
“The response to the last attempt to impose a terrorist state in the heart of our country will be given to my return from the United States. We will wait,” concludes Israeli prime minister.
After the announcement of recognition by some countries, Israeli finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, presented a proposal for Israel to attach 82 % of the West Bank, a step that Israeli media believe that the Netanyahu government could give.
The leader of the main opposition party qualifies this recognition of “serious diplomatic failure of Netyahu”
Yair Golan, leader of the Democrats, the main opposition party, has published this Sunday in his X account that “the unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state is a serious diplomatic failure of Netanyahu and Smotrich: a destructive measure for the security of Israel.”
Golan, ex -military who criticized the “war against civilians” From the Israel government, he adds that “this is a direct product of Netanyahu's political imprudence: its refusal to end the war and its dangerous choice of occupation and annexation. The state of Israel needs a strong political support point that ends the war, free the hostages and guarantees security for coming generations.”
“The question of a demilitarized Palestinian State can and must be part of a broad regional agreement led by Israel that guarantees our security interests: that is what we will do when we replace this dangerous government,” concludes the politician.
Israel threatened Europe with answers if they applied tariffs
On September 17, the European Commission proposed tariffs for 227 million to Israel, in addition to other measures, to press towards the end of Gaza's genocide. Sanctions were also imposed on two ministers and five associations of Israeli extremist settlers.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar reacted from his social network account X firmly, but without going into many details: “The measures against Israel will be answered accordingly, and we hope we do not have to resort to them.”
The tension continued with a Member State like Spain. Just a week earlier, Netanyahu accused the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, of launching a “flagrant genocidal threat” against Israel after taking out statements from Sánchez himself in an appearance in Moncloa in which nine measures were announced to impose an embargo of weapons against Israel.
Given this situation, the US government aligned with Netanyahu once again and considered “deeply worrying” Spain's response to Israeli genocide. “These measures encourage terrorists,” said the State Department.
