If there is an area in which the AEW company has constantly stood out, it is to honor the legends that helped open doors for today's stars.
During an appearance in “The Line Change“, Orange Cassidy said he was now lucky to work with a talent he admired as a child.
“I always enjoyed the openness fighting that ECW had,” said Cassidy. “Jerry Lynn used to fight against Rob van Dam, and they had fighting that I think can be traced to the current professional wrestling. The way it is now due to those two. And Jerry is a AEW coach, it helps us a lot to many of us. The fact that I grew up seeing this guy and now he is helping me to discover the right time to put my hands in my pockets is quite crazy.”
Orange Cassidy knows that he is not the favorite of some wrestling veterans
Cassidy acknowledged that not all wrestling veterans are fans of his character, but many of those who have passed through the doors of AEW have assured him that he is standing out.
“I am very special when trying something new,” said Cassidy. “And I have many 'old', if you want to say it, those who don't like it. But when you have people like Tully Blanchard and Sting who say they like it, well, then, I think I'm doing well.”
Cassidy praised the positive atmosphere that Sting helped cultivate behind the stage in AEW, and pointed out that his influence still feels today.
“Sting is a great person. I think Sting really understood the value that we support each other to be better. It will have a lasting impact on AEW forever.”
After the last Sting fight in the AEW Revolution PPV earlier this year, AEW once again demonstrated its gratitude by signing a new contract of several years, which is believed to be similar to a WWE Legends agreement.
