Another name adds to the growing list of Japanese fighters who in this 2025 have opted for retirement. It's about Sonoko Katothe experienced fighter of OZ Academywhich this year turns 30 as a professional fighter.

► Sonoko Kato retires due to multiple injuries

Sonoko Kato debuted on April 15, 1995 at the Tokyo Korakuen Hall in the legendary company Gaeia facing Meiko Satomura in hand to hand. Interestingly, Satomura also retired this year.

Sonoko Kato belongs to that brand new generation that formed the successful Gaea with prominent names such as the aforementioned Satomura, Aja Kong, Akino, Chikayo Nagashima, Ayako Hamada, Mayumi Ozaki, among others.

Sato announced that his retirement will occur on November 23 at the Tokyo Korakue Hall, in the event called “Blue Dragon Final” that will be produced by her and Oz Academy.

The fighter, who recently turned 49, cites as a reason for her retirement, having accumulated more than 15 surgeries, is also developing osteoarthritis on her knees added that her vision is very deteriorated by an old orbital fracture.
