After six years of fighting and working hard to return to WWE after his release in 2021, Chelsea Green finally had its moment last weekend and made history in doing so. With a victory over Michin last Saturday, Green became the first WWE United States champion, winning his first individual title in the WWE and his first championship since he had the championships in female couples with Sonya Deville and Piper Niven last year.
As for why Green received the prestigious honor about the other women in the tournament for the women's female title, it seems that he was largely due to his work since he returned to WWE. In the last edition of “Wrestling Observer Radio“, Dave Meltzer declared that Green's victory was due to the WWE wanted to reward her for having exceeded last year's expectations, despite having to carry what Meltzer described as a” joke “character.
Upon signing with WWE in January 2023, Green assumed what many believed that it was a parody of “Karen”, making fun of privileged white women. Whether for the trick or for other reasons, Green was trapped in the lower billboard of the WWE female division during the following months, before winning the titles of female couples with Deville in July.
Despite the renewed success, Green has maintained the same personality during his second stage in the WWE and little by little he has gained praise of fans and experts, such as Bully Ray of “Busted Open Radio.”
Apart from his character, Green's victory was perhaps sweeter because he was against Michin. The duo had a brief rivalry during the fall, in which Green defeated Michin in a regular fight, before the latter took revenge on defeating Green in a Dumpter fight.
Veteran prefers to see Chelea Green than others on WWE TV
In a recent edition of “Busted Open Radio“Bully Ray declared that, no matter how good fighter that Natalya has proven to be, he has not been able to achieve so much inside the WWE because he did not have, in the eyes of Bully, a sustainable base, an entertaining character like that of Chelaea Green.
“Nattie is a great professional fighter,” Bully said. “What has he done during the last ten years? It is not a shit. I prefer to see Chelsea, entertaining Chelsea Green, than to the professional fighter Nattie Neidhart, and you know how much I love Nattie. And for God's love, give Nattie a career as a diva of the 'housewife of New Jersey'. But I just say that you do not have to be a great professional fighter. Nattie always fights in Dungeon and the Dojo, and has great fighting and all that.
