The Nature Boy is choosing sides – and is being aligned with the champion. Ric Flair did not hold during his recent appearance in Busted Open Radiowhere he shared his thoughts about Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena before his confrontation for the WWE championship in Wrestlemania 41.

When asked who believes the gold will take, Flair did not hesitate. “Because it is on a streak,” He said about Rhodes. The WWE Hall of Fame Member made it clear that Cena might not be interested in winning the title at this stage of his career.

“To be honest with you, I don't think John wants to retire with the title,” said Flair, adding, “John is a company man. He wants the best for the business.”

Flair's comments go to the heart of the current dinner narrative – one in which the 16 -time world champion seems more focused on raising others than to swell his own legacy. And according to Flair, that is exactly the reason why Rhodes should – and will probably do it.

Flair also recognized the elephant in the room: his current ties with AEW. Although he expressed enthusiasm for Wrestlemania, he admitted that working with Tony Khan complicates things when it comes to participating in WWE events.

“It is very difficult for me to participate in the activities while I work for Tony (Khan),” he said. Even so, he was praise with his current boss, calling Khan “the best guy in the world.”

Even under the AEW flag, Flair made it clear that he is attentive to WWE – and he is completely in favor of Cody Rhodes continuing his reign.

“I am happy for everyone. It will be a great show. I'm glad that there are two companies because that means more opportunities for the boys to work,” said Flair.

So, while dinner can have the legacy, the roles in films and the focus of Wrestlemania, Flair bets on American Nightmare to go out with gold – because in his eyes, the dinner approach is to return, not to take the crown.
