The WWE former superstar Ricochet He left the company based in Stamford in June. However, AEW's current star affirmed that he wanted to separate from the promotion of wrestling even before winning the intercontinental championship.
The 35 -year -old fighter signed a contract with the world giant in 2018. After a successful season at NXT, he was selected for Monday Night Raw the following year. Ricochet won his first title in the main roster in a few months when he defeated Samoa Joe to become the United States champion before losing the title against AJ Styles after 21 days.
During his recent appearance at Talk Is Jericho, Ricochet recalled how he won the intercontinental championship after telling him John Laurinaitis I wanted to leave the WWE. He claimed to have expressed his desire to return to the indis.
“Who knows what they were thinking about that moment? Maybe they thought I was going to stay, and maybe they thought. They know, a quarter of the money I win now, instead of returning here next week, ”he said.
The former NXT champion added that he was given a fight for the intercontinental championship the following week. In addition, he thanked Johnny Knoxville for helping him defeat Sami Zane for the title.
“It was fun because they were like a fight for the intercontinental championship and then, the following week, I won thanks to Johnny Knoxville. Thank you, Johnny Knoxville, for helping me and won.”

Ricochet stated that he would never have joined WWE if Aew had emerged before
After his departure from the WWE, Ricochet signed a contract with AEW last month. He debuted in all in as a surprise participant in the Casino Gauuntlet combat.
In his conversation with Chris Jericho, Ricochet said that He would have joined Aew If the wrestling promotion had been in operation when it joined the company based in Stamford. He added that he wanted to be in NXT instead of RAW or SmackDown.
“In That moment, if Aew had been an idea or a plan or something, surely I would have gone in that direction. At that time, the theme black and gold (NXT) was going crazy. That was the only place where I really wanted to be. I didn't want to go to Raw or SmackDown. I wanted to be in NXT. I was only there for about nine months and then they called us Raw, ”he said.
Ricochet had a very irregular career in WWE. It remains to be seen what awaits the high flight fighter after his passage to the rival promotion.
