Cody Rhodes completed his career in WrestleMania 40 where he won the WWE undisputed championship and began a new chapter as a champion. After successfully defending his title against Kevin Owens en Bash in Berlin it seems that your rivalry is not over yet.
With the next PPV of the WWE, Hell in A Cell, just around the corner, there are already rivals that align to face Cody Rhodes. Will face only Sikoa in the September 13 episode From SmackDown, which marks the return of the blue brand to USA Network.
In the podcast The Wrestling Inform, Billi Bhatti shared some ideas about the future WWE plans for Rhodes, hinting at a possible turn in the story for Kevin Owens.
“The plan remains that Kevin Owens face Cody Rhodes. WWE will try to get a PPV of this fight between Cody and Kevin Owens, so that is the direction to follow ” .
This possible turn makes sense, since Owens's story before Bash in Berlin focused on his doubts about whether he deserved an opportunity for WWE's undisputed title. Despite those doubts, Owens got the fight, but finally lost. Interestingly, his character did not seem too affected by the posterior defeat.
Cody Rhodes can join the list of betrayed by Kevin Owens
Owens is known for betraying his friends, an issue that was repeated in his dispute with Rhodes before Bash in Berlin.
In the August 23 edition of WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes appeared at the Grayson Waller Show. During the segment, Waller tried to create tension by highlighting Kevin Owens' history to betray his friends against Rhodes.
After the WWE program, he shared a clip in which Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes appear. Rhodes said that, despite what wrestling fans could assume, their relationship with Owens goes beyond the cameras.
Rhodes declared : “All those who see wrestling believe that they know how to call it. This is my friend, my true friend, not just a friend in front of the camera, a friend outside her. We will fight in Berlin. Those who have not seen German fans say:” Bash in Berlin will leave them speechless. “Kevin Owens is the man. He saved me.”
Time will say if Cody Rhodes becomes the next victim of Owens's betrayal, but with the Rumored return of The Rock And Wrestlemania 41 on the horizon, Rhodes may have to deal with Owens before focusing on other challenges.
