Earlier this week, the news of the death of the WWE fighter and the WCW Sid Vicous was known after a battle against cancer. Since then, tributes to Vicious have arrived in mass by those who grew up seeing it or shared costumes with him.
During the last episode of “83 Weeks”, Eric Bischoff commented on the death of the veteran and reflected on his relationship with him. Bischoff was his boss while working at WCW in the late '90.
“It was not very close to Sid, we were not good friends, we did not exchanged text messages or phone calls or things like that, but, man, I really liked Sid,” Bischoff recalled.
In addition, he said he had only had excellent interactions with Vicious in regard to business and described him as the “best team player.” According to Booker T, Vicious played an important role for him and his brother, Stevie Ray, to dedicate themselves to professional wrestling. Bischoff was asked what he knew about this statement and admitted that he had only heard of her, but still praised Vicious's character.
“It's a good human being, it's a good guy,” said Bischoff. “In retrospect, it is a guy who had clear his priorities.”
Vicious interpreted an intimidating character on the screen, but according to Bischoff, this was far from being the man behind the character the member of the Hall of Fame also recalled that he rarely saw Vicious behind the stage without a smile on his face and joking with his classmates.
“It was the personification of the friendly giant,” he said. “It was exactly the opposite of the character you saw.”
