The premiere of the new season of the popular fiction series ‘Stranger Things’ This Wednesday the streaming service of Netflixwhich remained down for a few minutes coinciding with the start of its projection. According to specialized magazines, the service went down at 5:00 p.m. (US Pacific Coast Time), just when the long-awaited fifth season of the series was premiering. The connection was down for about three minutes and afterward, its vision continued to present problems for some users.
According to 'Variety', tens of thousands of people who logged on to watch the fantasy series were met with an image that said: “Something went wrong. Sorry, we're having trouble with your request. You'll find plenty to explore on the home page.”
A Netflix spokesperson told Variety that “some users briefly experienced an issue with streaming on TV devices, but service was restored for all accounts within five minutes.”
Background
This isn't the first time Netflix has been overwhelmed by 'Stranger Things' traffic.. In July 2022, Variety reported that the platform was briefly unavailable after the release of the final two episodes of the fourth season. Users also experienced Netflix outages during the fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, one of the first live-streamed events on the platform.
'Stranger Things' returns with the first batch of episodes of its final season, more than three years after the end of the fourth. The new episodes will follow the boys of the town of Hawkins on their quest to find and kill the monstrous Vecna. The town is in military quarantine while the protagonist, Eleven, hides from the authorities.
'Stranger Things' has also become the first Netflix series that has positioned itself four seasons in the Top 10 of the platform's most viewed productions simultaneously, the entertainment company reported on Tuesday.
The new milestone for the series created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer has occurred on the eve of the premiere of the first four episodes of its fifth and final season.
This fifth season will be offered in three parts: the first arrived on November 26, the second will be screened on December 25 and the last, with only the episode – two hours long – with which the series will close, on December 31.
The final episode titled 'The Rightside Up' will be released simultaneously in theaters and on Netflix, marking the first time in history that an episode of a series is projected on the big screen.
