The Catalan PP has supported a proposal for resolution registered by VOX in the Parliament that claims the repeal of the Catalan law against homophobia, in addition to all state and autonomic legislation derived from the “gender ideology and woke”The Law against Homophobia, approved in 2014, was a pioneer in Spain for being the first to contemplate administrative sanctions against all kinds of discriminations to lesbian, gay, transsexual, bisexual and intersex people.
The text was voted last Monday in the Parliament Equality Commission, as a Vox initiative that, in the exposition of motives, loads against governments of the PP, the same party that ended up supporting it.
“Policies woke They have had dire consequences for societies where they have tried to implement and Spain has not been an exception, where these political delusions have been consummated through norms approved indistinctly by governments of the Popular Party and the Socialist Party in different institutions, ”says the beginning of the proposition.
The exposition of reasons continues to carry different regulations, especially those that collect the rights of trans people, to which they are accused of exercising a “woman's erase.” But VOX's text also loads against positive discrimination measures in favor of women, such as sex differentiated by sex to access some public function positions.
“Regarding Law 11/2014 (against Homophobia) we had already voted against at the time it was approved, especially due to interventionism about the private life of people, who are not forced to reveal their sexual orientation, for example when establishing equal plans in companies,” says the deputy of the PP Belén Pajares, spokesman for the party in the Equality Commission.
“Of course we believe that we have to fight the discrimination of all groups,” says Pajares, which, however, understands that “there are already mechanisms for when aggressions occur, and, therefore, this law doubles the regulations.”
The PP deputy also considers that the mention of the laws with gender ideology, even of governments of her party, refers only to issues such as the law of 'only yes is yes', or the trans law, in addition to the Catalan against homophobia. “The plan against gender violence is not in any case a law with gender ideology, it was a state pact that presented the PP with a lot of consensus,” he emphasizes.
A vision that clashes with what other deputies of the same commission interpreted, who understood that Vox's mention to laws with gender ideology encompassed all those that the party usually criticizes.
“We are surprised that the PP is increasingly positioned next to the extreme right, as he did in the Commission of Equality and Feminisms, where he voted in favor to urge the Government of Spain to repeal all laws in terms of equality. It is inadmissible that the PP, for opportunistic and partisan issues, is favorable to destroy everything that has cost us so much Consolidated, ”said the PSC holder in the commission, Elena Díaz.
The Catalan Law against all kinds of discriminations to the LGTBI collective has just fulfilled a decade in force and has been the normative basis through which various sanctioning files have been processed by aggressions and exclusions due to sexual orientation. The first fine was processed in 2016, for homophobic insults to the worker of a residential center that were sanctioned with 300 euros.
In February of this year PSC, Junts, ERC, COMUNS and CUP presented a text to modify some aspects, with the objective of updating the law, harmonizing the sanctioning code and including some novelties in their text, such as the so -called “conversion therapies” or establishing a comprehensive care network to the collective.
