Cyclist Yeison Reyes, from Paisa pride, shone in the rise to the high line and took the victory in the queen of the Tour of Colombia on Wednesday after crossing the goal alone. He launched an attack in the final meters that left the group of leaders.
When six kilometers were missing to complete the tour, Reyes left alone with a change of rhythm that Rodrigo Contreras (Nu Colombia), leader of the general classification, could not continue. He knew how to suffer in the final meters and celebrated quite moved.
With a minute and four seconds of difference, the Boyacense Diego Camargo (Team Medellín) crossed the goal, who finished off the day with a large state of form, and in the company of the Venezuelan Yonathan Eugenio (EBSA), who also cut time in the general classification.
“I said that I wanted victory and that I was going to try whenever I could. My brother is going through a very difficult time, it hurt in my soul to come here and see him how he stayed,” said Reyes in tears after crossing the finish line.
The closure became eternal for Rodrigo Contreras, the leader of the general classification, who completed the tour with two and a half minutes of difference with respect to the winner of the day. Despite suffering a difficult day, the current race champion remained at the top of the general.
The sixth stage of the Tour of Colombia started in Mosquera, to the west of Bogotá, and was the main course of this edition. It had five mountain awards: two of the fourth category, one third, one second and a special port, the high line.
This day pressed the fight for the general. Although Contreras continues as a leader, he lost more than half of the time he had an advantage over Camargo, his closest persecutor. Now he has a gap of just over a minute.
Thanks to his good performance on the top of the line, Reyes also cut distances with the owner of the yellow shirt. He remained in the third place, although now with less than two minutes apart with the top of the classification.
