The Colombian Cycling Federation confirmed on Tuesday morning the cancellation of the fifth stage of the Tour of Colombia 2025. Most of the route was planned in the department of Boyacá, where there are currently road blockages at different points as part of the mining strike that affects the region.

The fraction, 150.9 kilometers, had its departure in Duitama, north of the Boyacense territory. The layout included a step through Tunja, before heading to Tocancipá (Cundinamarca), where the finish line would be located. It was a half mountain stage.

“After deeply analyzing the situation and consensus with the sports directors of the participating teams, the decision was made to suspend the competition during this day,” the organization said through an official statement.

In order not to interfere with the development of the sixth fraction, scheduled for this Wednesday, the squads will use Tuesday as a transfer day to Bogotá. They will do it on a safe alternate route that includes the passage through Villavicencio.

The decision seeks to guarantee the normal development of the Queen of the race, a demanding high mountain day that will depart from Mosquera (Cundinamarca) and will conclude in the feared high of the line. This is one of the most anticipated moments of this edition of the Tour of Colombia.
