The Council of Ministers on Tuesday has approved its limited medical cannabis program, which will allow patients to resort to master formulas – cannabis -based oil -based oil – but leaves out the direct use of flowers – cogollos – marijuana.
The formulas must be prescribed exclusively by medical specialists in the hospital, when there are documented clinical reasons for use and as a last resort. Its elaboration will be carried out only in authorized hospital pharmacy services.
“The norm responds to the need to offer a therapeutic alternative in cases where conventional treatments are not effective, especially in patients with refractory chronic pain, severe epilepsy or spasticity due to multiple sclerosis,” said the Ministry of Health in a press release, which also highlights that the door is left open to updates in the planned uses. “In the future these indications are surely expanded,” said Mónica García.
