Two hours. This is what the Minister of Social Policy, Families and Equality of the Region of Murcia, Conchita Ruiz, has taken to fold to Vox's demands and cancel the purchase of homes for the foster care of minors in the Murcian community. The Regional Government had announced the purchase of these properties, coinciding with the announcement of the closing of the Rosa Peñas Center in the Murcian district of Santa Cruz, one of the requirements imposed by Vox for the closure of regional budgets. But, after receiving threats from those of Abascal to dissolve the agreement of the community accounts, social policy has reversed.
The Government of the region accepted the closure of the Rosa Peñas Children's Center citing the recommendations made by the European Union, UNICEF and the Ministry of Children and Youth. This center houses 60 minors, and from the Murcian government it was defended that this agglomeration had to be avoided. But Conchita Ruiz does not now consider that minors move to the homes that were willing to acquire their counseling.
“The community revokes the order by which the acquisition of housing was contemplated for the reception of unaccompanied foreign minors. Rectify is wise. It will not happen again,” said the Murcia counselor of Social Policy in X.
On June 28, the community published in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM) an order of the Ministry of Economy, Finance, European Funds and Digital Transformation that transferred heritage powers to the Ministry of Social Policy, Families and Equality, so that it could directly acquire these homes. According to the announcement of the BORM, it was expected that with this purchase 385 residential places would be enabled, “adapted to the new childhood care model.” After the announcement of the Murcia counselor of Social Policy, it is unknown what will be the fate of the 60 children and adolescents residing in this center.
This order was intended to accelerate the project, whose execution period ends on December 31, 2025. The purchase of real estate is not the result of improvisation, since it was already contemplated in the project 'Modernizaction': “The main object of the aforementioned project is the creation, adaptation and improvement of residential infrastructure and residential protection models in particular of unaccompanied children the construction, acquisition, remodeling and equipment of them ”.
“Murcia will not have budgets”
Although the plan is dedicated to the reception of minors without distinction of its place of origin, Santiago Abascal has threatened this morning through its social networks with breaking the budget agreement of the Region of Murcia: “If this is not immediately withdrawn and we receive guarantees that nothing similar will happen again, Murcia will not have budgets or will have to approve them with the PSOE”.
A warning that Antelo has chanted minutes later: “The PP has to immediately rectify the Borm order that says that housing for men are purchased. If the PP does not comply, we will vote not to the budget.” The VOX leader in the community has taken a step further, and has warned that if the Minister of Social Policy, Conchita Ruiz, did not rectify, would ask for their resignation in a “immediate” way.
“Roma your Pact of Shame”
For its part, the opposition has once again affected the decision of the PP to sign a budget agreement with Vox: “We offered an agreement without red lines to approve some budgets focused on the real problems of the citizenship,” recalled the secretary general of the PSOE in the Region of Murcia, Francisco Lucas Ayala. The leader of the Socialists has urged the president of the community, Fernando López Miras, to “break the pact of shame” to “free the delirium region and permanent blackmail of Vox.”
“We already know the price of the budgets of the Region of Murcia: Human Rights.” This is overwhelmed, the spokeswoman for Podemos-Iu-Av in the Regional Assembly, María Marín, has been shown by knowing that the Minister of Social Policy, Conchita Ruiz, and López Miras revoke the order to buy homes in which to welcome migrant minors.
“Neither centers nor homes,” Marín continued. What the ultra -right pursues and aware the right is to place these children in the target, leave them on the street, denigrate them and humiliate them as if they were not human beings. ”
For her, it is “a real shame that does not represent the people of our land, humble and welcoming.” “And we will demonstrate it with a massive, more massive mobilization even if it fits after this, in the face of the closing of the center of minors and these racist and miserable policies,” he concluded.
Those of Abascal, on the other hand, want that in the region of Murcia enters into operation a system similar to that of Aragon by which the age of migrants who arrive in the community can be determined.
They have also demanded to remove subsidies from NGOs that they consider to collaborate with irregular immigration.
