The WWE universe has been crying out because John Cena becomes heel during the last decade, but Vince McMahon never squeezed the trigger. The member of the WWE Hall of Fame, Jim Ross, has revealed the reason for this after the Villanesco Dino Giro in Elimination Chamber: Toronto.
For the first time in more than 20 years, Cena is a Heel after aligning with The Rock and attacking Cody Rhodes. With McMahon out of WWE and the leader of the Cenation in its last year, the company finally decided to make it evil in one of the most shocking moments in the history of wrestling.
Speaking in the podcast Grilling JRCoanfrerion Conrad Thompson asked Jim Ross why Vince McMahon was against converting John Cena in Heel. Ross explained that, although McMahon considered it several times, the decision was never made due to the luxurious sales of merchandise that Cena generated for WWE.
“Many people wanted to happen, but Vince was always very, very reticant and handling the threads in that matter. One of the reasons were the merchandise numbers, which were amazing,” said Ross. (3:10 – 3:34)
The closest to a heel of John Cena Bajo Vince McMahon was during his Firefly Fun House fight against Bray Wyatt in Wrestlemania 36. As it was a film fight, he explored Cena as a villain while wearing a Nwo shirt.
John Cena was ready to become heel in 2012
In an interview with Chris van Vliet in Insight Last year, John Cena confirmed that there were serious plans to turn it into Heel for his fief with The Rock in Wrestlemania 28. Cena explained that he was ready with a new team and a topic before Vince McMahon discarded the idea.
“I heard rumors that we were going to do it, and in 48 hours, I had a new track, a new mixture of musical theme in study, final mix. I had seven new outfits, low cut singlets with boxing type robes. I already had the boots in storage, so I dirty them. I was ready to go and I was already thinking about what I could do with the story,” Supament said.
Advancing more than 10 years later, Dinner and The Rock Son Heels. They may be in their last moments, but it is still great to see them make changes in their characters.
