The Superior Prosecutor's Office of Andalusia has opened investigation proceedings after the complaint filed by the Association 'The defender of the patient' about errors in the breast cancer screening program in this community, as Eldiario.es has been confirmed.
Sources from the Public Ministry had informed EFE on Monday that the aforementioned complaint had reached the prosecutor in charge on Friday.
After receiving different complaints, the aforementioned association asked the Superior Prosecutor's Office of Andalusia to investigate the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) for which he considers an alleged absence of functions within the framework of the early detection program of breast cancer through screening.
Also the defender of the acting Andalusian people, Jesús Maeztu, announced on Friday that he will initiate an ex officio investigation after the failures detected in the breast cancer screening program.
For its part, the Association of Women with Breast Cancer (AMAMA), a collective that has been in charge of channeling the testimonies of numerous affected, plans to meet this Tuesday afternoon to meet women, identify them, know how many they are and, where appropriate, adopt the corresponding measures.
This association, which met last week with the Minister of Health, Rocío Hernández, and that in a recent statement has considered what happened “absolute negligence, which can even have criminal consequences”, thus consider a possible collective lawsuit.
