The sting wrestling legend concluded his career with AEW in this year's revolution PPV. The event took place in a full Greensboro Coliseum, but a new report has revealed that the company originally played with the idea of making the great farewell in a stadium.
The icon won the World Championship in AEW couples with his partner, Darby Allin, earlier this year. The two defended the titles against The Young Bucks in Revolution in March, and The Stinger was accompanied by his two children in real life when he said goodbye to his career in the ring.
Many fans were excited about the farewell of the legend, but it could have been even bigger. According to Pwinsider, All Elite Wrestling considered to perform the Sting Retirement ceremony at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Finally, the company decided to opt for the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina, a place with which The Icon has a lot of history.
AEW goes to Globe Life Field in 2025
Although the company decided not to celebrate the last Sting fight at the Globe Life Field in Arlington (Texas), it will visit the stadium next summer. AEW announced earlier this year that the next edition of its massive PPV All In will be held at the stadium.
Sting, who lives close, in northern Texas, could appear in the event, as he did in this year's All in. However, many fans believe that Globe Life Field would be the perfect place for Dustin Rhodes to compete in his last game.
Rhodes' older brother is the current world champion of six men in Roh's couples along with the von Erichs, whose family is considered the royalty of wrestling in the Dallas area. A last union between the brothers and Dustin Rhodes could lead to a great main event, but it is still about to be seen if that happens.
