The South American qualifiers towards the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada 2026 enter their final stretch. With only two days to play, it was time to meet the six direct classifieds of the region and the team that will play the intercontinental repechage.

Argentina leads the table with 35 points and faces a special match against Venezuela, as it will be the last officer of Lionel Messi as a local condition. The world champion team and America already have assured its presence in the orbital appointment and says goodbye to its audience with the captain as a central figure.

Behind Ecuador and Brazil appear – both with 25 units – also with the insured classification. The first visit to Paraguay and the second receives Chile with an eye on essaying variants and consolidating names that reinforce the base with which they intend to reach the World Cup.

The other three direct quotas are occupied by Uruguay, Paraguay and Colombia, although none still has the passage guaranteed. The advantage is that everyone depends on themselves: with a victory in either of the two duels they have to face their ticket without looking at what happens on other courts.

In the case of Colombia, the situation combines expectation and pressure. The team has cost to close matches and hopes that these two days are the confirmation of the return to a World Cup after the absence in Catar 2022. The group trusts its figures to win Bolivia on Thursday in Barranquilla (6:30 pm).

The attention is also put in the fight for the seventh position, which gives access to the repechage against selections of other confederations. There, Venezuela maintains a slight advantage: there is a point above Bolivia and depends solely on its performance in the last two dates to ensure at least that option.

Out of all possibility, Peru and Chile remained, two selections beaten by the lack of continuity in their processes. The generational replacement did not pay the expected fruits and the coaches failed to form competitive teams at the height of the South American demand.

The last two dates of the South American Qualifiers will be played these days. On Thursday, September 4, the penultimate day will be held, while the final is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9. The two have the same distribution: four games simultaneously and another during different hours.
