In the midst of the controversy over the United States attacks against alleged drug traffickers, Donald Trump charged this Sunday against the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro. It was on his social network Truth, where he attacked the leader and called him a “drug trafficking leader.”
“It strongly encourages the massive production of drugs in large and small fields throughout Colombia,” the president said in his message, where he also said that Petro “does nothing” to prevent drug trafficking in his country.
“STARTING TODAY, THESE PAYMENTS, NOR ANY OTHER FORM OF PAYMENT, NOR SUBSIDIES, WILL NOT BE MADE,” Donald Trump has written, although without specifying which payments or subsidies he is referring to.
The Washington Office for Latin America (WOLA) estimated in September that in 2024, United States aid to Colombia would exceed $400 million.
Gustavo Petro questioned this Saturday at the last minute in his profile on the social network X (formerly Twitter) the latest missile attack by the United States against an alleged drug trafficking submarine. Petro pointed out that the missile murdered “a humble fisherman from Colombia” and criticized that the US had “invaded the national territory.”
“This is the Homeland of Bolívar and they are murdering his children with bombs. The US offended the national territory of Colombia and murdered an honest working Colombian. May Bolívar's sword be lifted!” he added in his message.
