Speaking in The Coach & Bro ShowRusso said that the 39 -year -old champion would stand out as a villain as much as he does as Babyface. He added that Rhodes' success in the possible role would occur, whether the company correctly handled the change to Heel or not:

“Oh, I think it would be a tremendous heel. It will be a tremendous heel. And I will tell you this, it will be a tremendous heel, whether they do it correctly or not. Despite that, it will be a tremendous heel,” he said. (From 15:49 to 16:07)

Cody Rhodes recently spoke about his future in WWE

Since his return to the Stamford company, Cody Rhodes has been an example of professionalism. While continuing to fight on televised shows and live events, The American Nightmare recently discussed his future as a fighter in an interview with 2 Bears, 1 Cave.

WWE's undisputed champion revealed that he plans to stop being a full -time fighter at age 45:

“Well, (I have) 39 now. I would say that my contract is in force until, I don't want to fight full time definitely after 45. Occasional appearances? Sure. Keep fit. (But remain involved in the world?) Can I see it,” he said.

It would be interesting to see if The American Nightmare eventually will have a role as Heel, since it has been declared that it is already rude regardless of what the WWE fans see right now.
