Matthew Belloni by Puck News talked about McMahon's attempt to buy the documentary series in his newsletter “What I’m Hearing “Posted on Tuesday.
“After seeing the first images, (McMahon) tried to repurify the project to Netflix, according to two sources familiar with the matter,” Belloni wrote. He also pointed out that Netflix refused to comment.
“Vince also had the participation of Endeavor's executive director, Ari Emanuel his new partner in Tko, who also expressed his concern about the treatment that the documentary gave to the alter ego of Vince, 'Mr. McMahon ', which ended up being the title of the documentary. ”
“Netflix refused to let the project go ahead and, last January, the worse McMahon scandal, when a former employee filed a demand claiming a terrible abuse. ”
Accusations against Vince McMahon complicated WWE's new relationship with Netflix
Dave Meltzer said there were people in Netflix “restless” for the 10 -year transmission rights agreement signed with WWE considering the accusations against McMahon.
“The agreement with Netflix was signed a couple of days before the lawsuit against Janel Grant was filed. It was not an agreement after scenes for which everyone drank champagne. There were people in Netflix who were not very excited about the agreement, but signed it and accepted it. But there were people who were afraid to do business with the WWE.”
The six episodes of “Mr. McMahon” are scheduled to premiere in Netflix the early hours of Wednesday.
