Joel Parra, Alero del Barça, analyzed his last two seasons as a Barca player, marked by the absence of titles, something that, as he says, must be “left behind” to take “steps forward” the next campaign.
At age 25, Parra is one of the members of the National Hard Core of Barcelona, who from next year will not count on his ranks with his captain in recent seasons, Álex Abrines, in a decision that leaves him “sad”, but that respects, while wish 2025.
Recently renewed until 2028, the player was “happy” and “grateful” for the “club's confidence”: “shows that they trust me a lot, both personal and player, so I want to return that confidence they have deposited in me.”
After leaving the Joventut to sign for Barcelona in 2023, Parra reflected on his two seasons as Barca, marked by the absence of titles: “Barça will always compete for everything, that is the idea. Yes it is true that we come from two years of being dry in that sense, but well, I think the club has reinforced very well with the new incorporations and some I suppose.
“I think we have to leave aside, these last two seasons that have passed and compete and try to take steps this year,” he continued.
In the arrivals section, Barça confirmed the signings of players like Will Clyburn or Tornike Shengelia, which he defined as “experienced”, since they know “both the Endesa League and the Euroleague.”
In addition, another of the incorporations is that of the American eaves Myles Cale, a piece that will arrive to play in the theoretical position of Parra: “That players of your position are fine. The competition has to be healthy. If in the training I go 'I am full' I make my partner improve and it also serves to improve. In the end it is healthy competition for the team.”
Although he admitted not to have spoken yet with coach Joan Peñarroya about the next campaign due to his commitment to the Spanish team, the Barcelona forward showed his desire to start the preseason with the team.
“I am also eager to start working with Barça when I finish here – with Spain – and try to get all possible successes,”
