Rusev became one of the main villains in WWE after ascending to the main roster in 2014. According to the former WWE Vince Russo writer, the company should bring back to the Bulgarian gross as an “important heel”.
The culminating point of Rusev's career as a villain in WWE arrived in 2015 when he faced John Cena at Wrestlemania 31. The 39 -year -old fighter reported again signed with WWE last week after he finished his career of four and a half years in AEW. It has also been confirmed that the fighter revived his relationship with his wife Lana after separating in real life in 2023.
Many fans enjoyed Rusev's job as Babyface before WWE released him in 2020. However, Russo said in Writing With Russo which must be presented as a villain to correct Booking errors a decade ago:
“Look, they had him on the edge (in 2015). They had him right there to turn it into an important, very important heel. Look, that's how he would bring it back. I know he and wool, I think they are together again. Train them back where they left him, depending on what they do after Wrestlemania, but do it a heel and keep it intact and impeccable to mean something, you know? (1:42 – 2:11)

Vince Russo reflects on Rusev's inconsistent booking
In 2019, Vince McMahon supervised WWE's creative direction when Rusev's wife and former Valet, Lana, began dating Bobby Lashley as part of an elaborate Storyline.
The host of Writing With RussoDr. Chris Featherstone, I would prefer to see the three times champion of the United States return as Babyface, but Vince Russo did not agree:
“Look, I am on the other side of that, Chris, because it was a hot heel, and he and wool had a really good act until they ruined him. They did all those things with Lashley. Do you remember all those ridiculous things they did? Then, after that, because of that, it was in no one's land.” (3:39 – 3:54)
The popular star has not competed in a WWE fight since the episode of February 17, 2020 by RAW. On that occasion, he joined Humberto Carrillo in a losing effort against Lashley and Angel Garza.
