Viktor Gyokeres said we need to embrace the run-in following our 2-1 Premier League defeat to Bournemouth at Emirates Stadium.

The Swede bagged his 18th goal of the campaign, but it wasn’t enough as we lost our second home game of 2025/26.

Looking back at the match, Viktor said: “We didn’t come up to our level throughout the game.

“I think when we scored to make it 1-1, we felt good as a team. We had some dangerous chances before that and we wanted to take control of the second half, maybe didn’t create enough, in attack.

Attention now turns to Wednesday as we take on Gyokeres’ former side, Sporting in the Champions League quarter-final second leg, an occasion our summer signing is relishing.

He said: “We have a lot of important games to come and we need to embrace it and to enjoy playing those games.

“Like I said, it’s a great game to have in a few days, so we just need to recover now, leave this behind and make a very good performance on Wednesday.”
