Many of our Men’s, Women’s and Academy players have been sent out on loan this season to gain experience and further action.

It was another goalscoring weekend for Fabio Vieiraas his Hamburg side played out a 1-1 draw at home to Koln on Saturday night. The midfielder opened the scoring in the first half of the Bundesliga clash, before the visitors equalised following the interval. Fabio played 90 minutes before being withdrawn in stoppage time at Volksparkstadion, and HSV remain 10th in the table.

Jakub Kiwior was part of the matchday squad for Porto in the Europa League on Thursday, as the competition entered its knockout phase with a 2-1 win at Stuttgart in the round of 16 first leg. Jakub was rested on the bench for the contest, before returning to play Sunday’s full match in a 3-0 league win at home to Moreirense. The Dragaos remain top of the Liga Portugal pile, with 22 wins and just 10 goals conceded from 26 matches.

Marseille secured their third-straight Ligue 1 victory on Friday night with a 1-0 win over Auxerre in the Stade Velodrome, with Ethan Nwaneri part of the side. Ethan was introduced as a substitute in the closing stages to help see out the three points, keeping OM third in the table and on course for Champions League qualification.

Karl Hein was on the bench for Werder Bremen as their winning run in the Bundesliga came to an end over the weekend. Mainz were the opponents, and they were able to grab a 2-0 win to leapfrog Bremen, leaving them 15th. Reiss Nelson has been nursing a calf injury in recent weeks, and his Brentford side face off with Wolves in the Premier League on Monday night.

Charles Sagoe Jr and his Kalmar side were not in action this weekend, with the forward having so far scored once in two starts in Sweden. The Allsvenskan campaign begins next month, with Charles having so far represented his team in the Swedish Cup. Louie Copley was not involved for Crawley Town who drew 0-0 at Colchester United in League Two on Saturday.

Ismeal Cabia played the full 90 minutes of Shrewsbury Town’s 2-0 defeat by Cheltenham Town in League Two as he continues to gather vital experience under his belt. Will Sweet played the full match and kept a clean sheet on Saturday with a terrific defensive performance in Dagenham & Redbridge’s goalless draw at Enfield Town in the National League South.

Following the recent international break, several of our Women’s loanees were back in action with their clubs over the weekend. The big story came from Jessie Galewho scored for Bristol City against Portsmouth, the club with whom she spent the first half of this season, in a 2-2 draw at Westleigh Park. Jessie played 56 minutes of the WSL 2 clash, taking just six minutes to open the scoring.

In WSL action, Jenna Nighswonger played the full match and kept a clean sheet for Aston Villa in their exemplary 0-0 draw with league leaders Manchester City at the Bescot Stadium on Sunday. Villa sit ninth in the table following the creditable stalemate in Walsall. Laila Harbert was on the bench for Everton in the Women’s top flight on Sunday, as they closed the gap on Tottenham Hotspur with a 2-1 win at Brisbane Road. The Toffees take up sixth position in the table.

In Scotland, Maddy Earl enjoyed a special day as she made her debut for Glasgow City in a 4-0 win over Partick Thistle in the SWPL 1. Maddy played the final 17 minutes of Sunday’s Peasy derby, which reinforces Glasgow’s position at the summit of the league.

Vivienne Lia and her Hammarby side remain top of their Swedish Cup group, after Friday night’s 2-2 draw with Vaxjo. Vivienne started and played the first half of the clash, in which Hammarby recovered from a two-goal deficit to claim a crucial point. Elsewhere in Sweden, Cecily Wellesley-Smith and her Rosengard side are next to take on Vaxjo on Monday evening, as part of the same group.

Brighton return to the pitch on Wednesday night when they visit Chelsea, with Rosa Kafaji back in a blue and white shirt following her international exploits with Sweden.
