Kelly Smith MBE had a moment to cherish on the weekend when she got to see her new mural at Harlequin shopping centre in Watford.
The specially commissioned 36m² mural was created by artist collective MurWalls, recognising our coach and former forward for her legendary football career and impact on women’s football, after growing up in Watford.
Club photographer David Price was at the unveiling to capture Kelly’s reaction, which you can see in the gallery below.
Speaking at the event, held on International Women’s Day, Kelly said: “It’s surreal to see myself on the wall of Harlequin shopping centre but I’m honoured to have my footballing achievements celebrated in this way.
“Thank you to everyone who has brought this commission to life on my behalf, and to everyone who helped me make my dream of becoming a professional footballer a reality.
“The unveiling of this mural in Watford, a place I’m proud to come from, is a special day for me, and I’m so happy to be able to share it with my family and friends.”
