Waiting for the white smoke: Macron, France and the Church
The 133 cardinal electors did not manage to agree on a name Wednesday evening, during the only round of voting organized after the start of the conclave, arousing the disappointment of the thousands of faithful gathered in Saint Peter’s Square at the sight of the black smoke. On Thursday, the “princes of the Church” will therefore start voting again, with two votes scheduled during the morning session and two others in the afternoon. According to the Italian press, Emmanuel Macron is increasing the signs of interest in Vatican affairs.
