Caitlin Foord scored the opening goal of Australia’s 2-1 win against China in the semi-final of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup on Tuesday.

She fired Matildas in front in the 17th minute with her 40th Australia goal and, after Zhang Linyan reduced the arrears from the penalty spot, Sam Kerr scored the winning goal in the second half, assisted by Foord.

Steph Catley was back in the starting line-up and played the full 90 minutes, as did Foord, while Kyra Cooney-Cross played 79 minutes.

The win means Australia are through to Saturday’s final, which will kick off at 9am UK time against either South Korea or Japan, with those two sides playing the other semi-final on Wednesday.

Congratulations to our three Gunners!
