Hundreds of thousands of immigrants who were given a special permission to enter the United States are being notified that they must leave the country immediately.
“The Department of National Security (DHS) began to send termination notifications to foreigners with a permission to enter the United States (USA) under the Parole Program of the Biden era for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans (CHNV),” said that government entity in a communicationThursday.
“The messages informed the illegal immigrants that their parole had been canceled and that their employment authorization, based on Parole, had been revoked, with immediate effect. These notifications will be sent to the email addresses provided by the applicants.”
Under the mechanism of humanitarian parole, a group of citizens of those four countries were temporarily protected from deportation.
The DHS said that more than half a million people from the four countries were allowed to remain in the United States for two years under the orders issued by then President Joe Biden.
The instruction in front of legal challenges of those who oppose the mass deportation program of President Donald Trump is expected.
Immigrants evaluated
During his term, Biden expanded the protection, which is called humanitarian parole and dates back to the cold war, due to the conditions in each of the four countries.
The humanitarian parole is a legal figure with a long history and has been used by governments of different sign on multiple occasions throughout the last seven decades, recalled the International Rescue Committee, an organization founded in 1933 by Albert Einstein to help refugees to achieve protection in other lands.

The DHS had previously said that until the end of November 2024, a total of 531,670 people received a permit to remain in the United States under the program, and that, as a result, the illegal crosses of citizens of the four countries had decreased by 98%.
However, it is not clear exactly how many people will be affected by the new measure, since some of the immigrants in those countries could have acquired a legal status to remain in the United States under other visa programs.
The Biden government had said that immigrants, each of whom required a sponsor in the United States, were evaluated and verified. However, Trump's government did not agree.
The DHS spokeswoman, Tricia McLaughlin, described the Biden era program as “disastrous” and in a statement said he opened the door to fraudulent claims and crimes and that he was undermining US workers.
Electoral campaign
The program became an issue during last year's presidential campaign, particularly when Trump and his allies focused attention on cities such as Springfield, Ohio, which in recent years has seen a large influx of Haitian immigrants, many of whom were allowed to remain in the country under the program.

Trump and other leaders made incendiary statements about Haitian immigrants, such as, for example, who ate pets, without any evidence.
However, Trump's formula partner, the now vice president JD Vance, defended what he described as “creating a story” to highlight the high levels of immigration and what he called “the suffering of the American people.”
President Trump canceled the order of the humanitarian parole of Biden with an executive order of his own shortly after assuming the position in January.
In May, the Supreme Court confirmed the suspension of the humanitarian parole program while continued a legal battle in the courts of first instance.
The National Security Department has promised help for trips and a “exit bonus” of US $ 1,000 to migrants without permission to be in the United States that voluntarily abandon the country.
On Thursday, in his account on Social Network X, the Secretary of National Security of the United States, Kristi Noem, reiterated it:

“Our message to illegal immigrants is clear: go.
Self -export is the best way, the safest and most efficient in costs, to leave the United States and avoid being arrested. If you don't leave now, we will find it, we will arrest it and deport it. “
