Viktor Gyokeres has been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for February after scoring four goals in four league games.
The striker’s goals helped us remain unbeaten throughout the month, as we recorded wins over Sunderland and Tottenham either side of draws with Brentford and Wolves.
Viktor came into the month on good form having found the net against Leeds United at the end of January, and kept his scoring streak going with a brace against the Black Cats at Emirates Stadium.
His first of the afternoon came at the end of a precise team move, dispatching a powerful finish into the near post, before rounding off a counter-attack in the final moments of the game.
Our no.14’s biggest performance of the month however was saved for our final game of February as we thrashed north London rivals Spurs 4-1 for the second time this season in what was Viktor’s first taste of the fixture.
Having gone in level at half-time, Viktor hammered home a memorable derby goal from the edge of the penalty area just two minutes into the second half to put us back in front, before wrapping up the win with a coolly-taken second in stoppage time.

As well as his impressive form in front of goal, the Sweden international has proven to be vital in our build-up play, consistently holding up possession from long clearances, which allows his fellow attackers to get further up the pitch and support our attacks.
Viktor is nominated alongside five others for this month’s award. Manchester City duo Nico O’Reilly and Antoine Semenyo both make the shortlist with six goals and an assist between them, while Benjamin Sesko, striker for rivals Manchester United, is up for the award having scored three times himself.
Virgil van Dijk scored twice and helped his Liverpool side keep two clean sheets in their four matches in February, earning him a nomination. The shortlist is rounded off by Dango Ouattara, who scored twice and set up two more as his Brentford side enjoyed an unbeaten month in the Premier League.
